The Reality of IE and Yoga!

I was looking forward to writing a jam-packed newsletter and blog for August. But, life happened. Actually, COVID-19 happened. First my husband, and now me.
He’s okay, and I’m improving, but it’s taken a lot of out me. Everything drains me, and it’s difficult to think coherently. I look forward to when I’m no longer congested and coughing.
So, what does my whining have to do with Intuitive Eating and yoga? A lot, actually!
I’ve been listening to what my body wants. A lot of warm liquids (soothing). Nothing crunchy (sore throat). Soups (soul and body nourishing). Sweets and carbs (energy). Fruit (refreshing and nutritious). Movement? Not a single second!
There have been none of those thoughts of, “this is messing up my diet,” or “how will I ever get back to my exercise routine.” I’m just taking it day by day, listening to my body. You can find this freedom too, with Intuitive Eating. Check out my Counseling page to learn more and consider a Free Consultation.
As for yoga, I’ve been practicing pranayama to keep my lungs strong, and I’ve been meditating for short periods as well. But perhaps more than that, I’m practicing the first two limbs, the Yamas and the Niyamas.
When I choose to rest instead of push myself, that is ahimsa (non-harm). When I take a two hour nap after a shower, that is brahmacharya (moderation). When I take care of my physical body, that is saucha (cleanliness). When I listen to what my body really needs, that is my satya (truthfulness).
So, you don’t need to be in a yoga studio wearing overpriced leggings to practice yoga. You can be anywhere. That is the beauty of it. If you’d like to learn more or check out some classes, you can check out Live Classes, or my Yoga on Demand library (all of which are FREE!).
